mind article from TOI

Dear Dr Gupta,

Thanks for placing the 'Mind' article on the site

This will be read by many persons and reduce their confusion a lot.

Mind is generally seen by Teachers and Students alike as a monster,
to be subdued, defeated, controlled, corrected.....mostly by brute force,
called Tapa (literal sanskrit meaning is...heat).

This article brings a totally different viewpoint. Mind is the repository of all
creative ideas, innovations and brilliance. Creativity by definition is unruly, wild, undisciplined.
Brute force dulls it. Dont throw away the baby with the bath water.
Supreme patience like a mother is essential for this task.

"Yogah Chittavritti nirodhah" loosely translated means 'yoga is
stopping the waves on mind's surface'.
This is the first operative Sutra of Patanjali, in the book.
(First Sutra is just introduction)

Therefore, I consider K M Gupta's article, a contemporary pragmatic
adjunct to that great celebrated volume by Patanjali, for today's Seeker,
of peace and harmony.

Wishing you all the best.....narendra
