Principal, Dr V P Rakesh, was informed about tobacco sales points around the college premises. He sent staff to stop sales of tobacco in those stores. By the time ICanWin Foundation team finished awareness program, the stores were found to be without tobacco products. It’s a very impactful step by the college authority. He al;so suggested that DTCC team should visit the collge and nearby areas once in a month to conduct raid on any of the available tobacco points found within and around 100 yards.
Tobacco sensitization program supported by District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC, c/o Chief Medical Officer Meerut, Govt of UP), under the National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) 2019-20 coverage.
Volunteers deliberated on the ill effects of tobacco on the youth, their family members and members in the society, overall health and financial burden in India and explained the relevance of SAVE the Youth – Win Over Tobacco program to control tobacco menace.
“Be Smart Do Not Start” comic booklet on tobacco awareness authored by Dr Pawan Gupta, MS MCH (National President of ICanWin Foundation and Sr Cancer Surgeon) was distributed among the 206 students and teachers; a quiz competition was conducted at the end to which students answered as per their understanding.
A Tobacco Control Committee consisting of 4 teachers was formed in the school to keep an eye on different tobacco related activities and its violation under COTPA 2003.Yellow line campaign conducted with a painting depicting the school as tobacco free zone.
