Win over Tobacco Talk at Orissa Seva Sangh Vaishali

A talk on Tobacco Cessation and Awareness was conducted in collaboration with Orissa Seva Sangh at

ICanCaRe Cancer and Tobacco Awareness camp under the Medical Advisory of Dr Pawan Gupta, National President of ICanWin  Foundation, Director Head & Neck Cancer Surgery at Max Super speciality Hospital Vaishali,  and leadership of Er Rishabh Agrawal, MTech IITG & CEO ICanCaRe, was conducted at Shyam Park, Shahibabad, Ghaziabad, hosted by Odisha Seva Samiti and Rashtriya Pravasi Odia Paribar. This event was addressed by Rabindra Narayan Mishra from ICanCaRe wherein the gathering, of more than 200 community members including doctors, dentists, healthcare professionals, professionals from all walks of life and house makers, were sensitized about different preventable cancers and tobacco menace in the society. The attendees shared their experience on societal attitude towards cancer as a disease and tobacco as a habit and agreed that we do not have a clear understanding of both and hence take wrong steps in addressing the same.
Rabindra Mishra made the group aware about the possibility of preventing cancer when one can understand the signs and symptoms of cancer and see a doctor to detect the disease at an early stage. Special slogan "Chhota Daana" coined by Dr Pawan Gupta, was emphasized where in all were advised to self-screen their body (that includes oral cavity, breast and cervix) any changes in their body, may it be a small nodule, lump, abnormal discharges, etc, and see a specialized doctor for corrective measure; this step can save millions of people from cancer.
A special session on SAVE the Youth - Win over Tobacco was also conducted and the attendees were sensitized about the ill effects of tobacco. Tobacco causes more than 200 diseases that include CVD, COPD, Cancer, etc; every year 20 lacs Indian Youth get into the habit of tobacco use and this freely available poison kills 10 lacs of Indian population was enough reason for the attendees to react positively and pledge to stop tobacco use in their immediate family and to motivate others in the society to refrain from tobacco use and make India clean, green, healthy and lively.
Sri Minaketan Mishra, Sri Praksh Naik,  Sri  Puruna Chandra Sahoo, Sri Nagendra Natha Samal, Sri Pitabash Sahoo, Sri Ramakanta Jena,   Sri Nandan Samal, Sri  Manoj Giri. and members of OSS/ RPOP organized and managed with extraordinary enthusiasm and discipline the health camp that also included programs like Blood Donation, free Health and Dental Check up for community members.
