On arrival at Bhubaneswar, had an informal meeting with some active social personalities at Hotel Vits, Bhubaneswar.
The meeting was arranged by Dr Manmohan Agarwal, Member Expert of Indian Cancer Winners' Association at Bhubaneswar. Working as Consultant Onco Surgeon with Hemalata Cancer Hospital, Bhubaneswar.
Prominent amongst the participants were Mr Dilip Khandelwal, Mr Surendra Agarwal, Mr Pappu, Mr Gopal Agarwal, Mr Akshay Khandelwal
After listening to the vision and mission of Indian Cancer Winners' Association, they showed their interest to start a Chapter in Odisha.
Cancer Awareness with Utkal Prantiya Marwari Sammelan
In the evening was invited to the meeting of Utkal Prantiya Marwari Sammelan. The meeting was Presided by Mr Surendra Lath, Mr Akshay Khandelwal, Mrs Sampati Moda, Mr Mansukhlal Sethia and others. A presentation on social problems of cancer and the activities of Indian Cancer Winners' Association was presented. A discussion on what can be done to promote health through the Sammelan was done.

Faculty at Association Of Breast Surgeons of India
Attended as Faculty the Association of Breast Surgeons of India. at the Workshop demonstrated Modified Radical Mastectomy.
Other faculties who operated on the day were - Dr Gopinath, Dr Karwasra, Dr Bhibhuti Nayak and Dr Vani Parmar. Others present were - Dr D.D.Patel, Dr Hemant Singhal, Dr L Sarangi, Dr V.P.Singh.
In the evening at IMA house at Cuttack took oppurtunity to address the crowd and tell the concept of "CANCER WINNERS", WIN OVER CANCER", "3 Minutes 3 fingers once in 30 days can save your life", "Comprehensive Screening". The fact was well appreciated by the surgical colleagues.

Dr S.N.Panda, asked me to give a talk on "WIN OVER CANCER" at The Rotary Club, Cuttack on my next visit to Odisha.

I CAN WIN in association with the Asian Institute of Medical Sciences( AIMS) co-ordinated a unique workshop on “How to quit Tobacco”, supported by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and World Health Organization, India office on 18.06.2011 between 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM.
1. The program started with a pre tutorial press conference at the Doctors’ Lounge, AIMS at 12.30 PM and was attended by several journalists from National dailies like Punjab Kesri, Hindustan,Jagran etc. Dr. Pawan Gupta,National President ICANWIN, Dr. B.C. Gupta ,President ,Faridabad Chapter, Dr. Manish Wadhwa National Vice President ICANWIN and Dr. P.S. Ahuja ,Head Marketing AIMS faced the media and nswered n various aspects of Tobacco Control.
2. Tea break between 1.45 PM to 2.15 PM
3. The Chief Guest Dr.Sarita Dogra , Commissioner ESI Corpn. arrived at 2:30 PM & the workshop started at once with short introductory address from Dr. Pawan Gupta, National President, I CAN WIN Association. Pre assessment forms were distributed to the audience .
4. A welcome address was given Dr. B.C. Gupta, President Faridabad Chapter, I CAN WIN Association, where all the dignitaries and attending members were honoured & introduced:
• Dr. Sarita Dogra , Commissioner, ESI Corpn, Haryana.
• Course Director, Dr. Smita Deshpande, HOD, Deptt. Of Psychiatry & De-addiction, Resource centre for Tobacco Control, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Delhi
• Course convener, Mr. Praveen Sinha, Director, Policy on tobacco, Ministry of Health, WHO.
• Course co-ordinator, Dr. Pawan Gupta.

Completed pre assessment forms were collected.
5. All the dignitaries joined the lamp lighting ceremony marking the opening of the session :
• The workshop started with a talk on Indian Scenario and FCTC by Mr. Praveen Sinha, Director, Policy on tobacco, WHO .
• Next, Dr. Shridhar Dwivedi discussed the Various Harms of Tobacco in relation to cardiovascular complications.
• Dr Rudra Acharya discussed on the Benefits of Quitting tobacco
• Dr. Smita Deshpande introduced her team which took care of intervention aspects of tobacco control:
• Dr. Manish Jain delivered a talk on pharmacologic aspects including the basis and the available therapeutic agents to control tobacco habit.
• In a light vain 2 small motivational talks were presented by Ms. Sweta Agrawa19 yrs old daughter of a person who quit tobacco successfully and a Brigadier of 90 yrs old who quit tobacco as cold turkey.
• Then a skit was organized by Dr. Smita Deahpande’s psycho-socio therapist team on how to motivate patients about quitting tobacco by demonstrating various stages of de-addiction by Ms. Sheetal, Ms. Sunita and Ms. Chunmun.
• The chief guest, Dr. Sarita Dogra delivered her address at the end of the session.
• Felicitation of dignitaries was done by the team of I CAN WIN, Faridabad chapter. Mean while post assessment forms were distributed and collected within 15 min. from the participants.
• Vote of thanks proposed by Dr. P.S.Ahuja in the end and the program was followed by distribution of certificates to the participants and high tea.
